Ministry of Forestry Event at UNFCCC COP 18 : Indonesia's 15 Years Contribution to Combat Climate Change: Reducing Deforestation


Indonesia’s National Forest Monitoring System (INFMS) has been established and embedded within the Ministry of Forestry to provide information on the location and extent of the main forest and land use types, to estimate volume and growth by forest type, and to assess the state of the forests.

The monitoring system has four main components:

  1. forest resources (status) assessment
  2. forest resources (change) monitoring
  3. geographic information system and 
  4. users’ involvement.
